    • Hi anyone, I've had rocket themes subscription now for 6 months and I'm really confused as to download the standalone or use the gantry download, which one and why?. Do I install it to my PC then ftp to my site. Godaddy hosting account? which seems to install the latest version of joomla and informs me of an update but does this affect my site if I reinstall from PC? Especially if I have purchased a template. I'm not getting many tutorials explaining this and I'm having option paralysis so I've not used rocket themes even though I've subscribed hoping it would be clearer once I've tried but it's become even more confusing how to operate, manage and maintain a site. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    • Hi Barry,

      OK - Let's look at this as basically as we can.

      If Joomla is already installed on your server at Godaddy then you already remove the option of using the RocketLauncher.

      Joomla 2.5 onwards will tell you when an update is needed. Most people would take a backup of the site BEFORE installing extensions or major changes. Then click on update for Joomla 2.5 (not 3.X) and Joomla will be updated. This DOES NOT update your Rockettheme template.

      If you are setting up your site from scratch and you have not installed a Rocketheme previously then I would suggest that you use the bundle option as this will install the gantry framework and some other key extensions. Just go to template admin and make the template the default.

      If you already have gantry installed then you use the standalone version of the template.

      If you really wanted to have the RocketLauncher (copy of our demo minus the images) then you need a new database and a n emty directory to intsall it. This installs Joomla, the template and extensions, and the demo content.
