Question about moving components into a new site

Hello,
I am planning to choose a new template that I will install with Rocketlauncher. This is so that it will help me customize by seeing exactly how and where I can put my content.
The problem is that I want to move some components, modules and contents previously installed on the same server into the new rocketlauncher based site.
I have to do it that way because setting some of the old components and modules took a lot of time and effort.
I am comfortable with phpmyadmin and moving things around, however, I am looking for steps and suggestions I can follow.
I was thinking about creating a new folder and db to install the Rocketlauncher based site with demos contents. Create a backup of the old database.... Now, I am not sure how to move the other contents into the RT based site.

- You should really contact those 3rd party extension developers to tell you how to migrate the data and configuration for those extensions because various extensions keeps their configurations on various places and only devs can tell you how to properly migrate them
