SOLVED New to Joomla and problem with database and extensions

Posted 11 years 2 months ago
    • Hi I am using the Paradigm template and am having a few issues. I uploaded Roksproket and I can't view it although I can see it in the file manager in my cPanel of my webhost. The message is that the temorary php directory is not set. I read through the forums and called my hosting provider and they don't see where there is a problem with the set up on their end although they asked where it's supposed to set to. I know nothing about file management so I'm at a loss.

Also, I have this message under updates: Database schema version (1.6.0-2011-01-10) does not match CMS version (2.5.18). It looks like there is an older version installed but I just installed joomla and the template this weekend.

      Hope someone can help.

    • Hi Jamie,

Although you state you "uploaded RokSprocket" you also say you are new to Joomla so let's clarify you have actually installed the extension.

All extensions in Joomla are loaded via the Joomla admin - Extensions > Extension Manager > Install. Once this is done you go to Extensions > Module Manager and at top right click on 'New' and select RokSprocket from the available options.

The error message you mention about php is common and does not mean there is a problem.

The database message can be usually be rectified by clicking on the 'Fix' option at top right of the page. Please ensure you have taken a backup BEFORE you attempt this (unless your site has no content and you are happy to start again if things go wrong).

      Hope this helps 8)
