eh, sort of an arbitrary test... there's always optimization to be done for page speed in terms of caching and server processing/memory options...
I choose Joomla 9/10 time for design reasons and worry about page load speed on the backend... which is to say I personally care more about design/layout than I do anything else when building a new website... because that's what most clients care about... I feel you can always optimize page load speeds if you know what you're doing.
WordPress is the better blogging platform out of the box... but CCK's like seblod and k2 allow Joomla to compete...
If I had to take a guess it would be that Wordpress is a little less bloated... keep in mind that ANY CMS is going to add some overhead though... WP has the bigger dev community and they've typically been ahead of Joomla on integrating new code bases.
But I've launched dozens and dozens of Joomla sites and I've ranked a fair amount of them... so I wouldn't personally choose one or the other just for perceived page load speeds... I'd worry more about design and what features you need, then choose which platform/plugins/widgets best supports that
