SOLVED RocketLauncher hangs up at 'installing sample data'

  • SOLVED RocketLauncher hangs up at 'installing sample data'

Posted 10 years 5 months ago
    • Hi all,

I am trying to upload Panacea RocketLauncher to my local host (XAMPP) to mess around and potentially build a new website. Everytime I try the installation hangs up at installing sample data. I have waited for

How long does this step ordinarily take? What should I do to fix it/What may I be doing wrong?

Another bit of information, I had to change the php engine from InnoDB to myIsam to get databases to work on my local host previously (and I have done the same for this install). I also increased the max execution time in the php.ini from 30 to 60 but no luck.

      Thank you for any advice/comments/help.

      Steve

additional note 1: I am using Joomla 3 for this.

At one post in it's hard to judge your experience level so I'm starting at the beginning. Have you seen this guide -> http://docs.joomla.org/Configuring_a_XAMPP_server_for_joomla_development ?

Make sure your php.ini file ends up with this setting -> Admin -> Site or System -> System Information -> PHP Settings -> Magic Quotes = OFF
Also find the line with - max_execution_time=30 and change 30 to 300.

    • Thanks for the quick reply Dan. I made these changes and still seems to lock up. Should this take longer than 10-20 min?

    • I noticed the complete file size is around 40 MB. I would not expect it to take too long to upload onto local but not sure.

    • I am a novice to CMS and joomla, but have successfully installed xampp and gotten free templates and a joomla 3 install to work. I read over the guide and it looks basically like what I did. Thank you for your advice.

    • I also checked and it looks like the database has been populated.

There maybe a real EASY solution here:
Tried Xampp - didn't like it
      Then WAMP - much better
NOW Mamp for Windows - the best

I'll mark this as Solved for now. If you still have issues just post back here and we'll go from there ;)

    • MAMP didn't work out, but WAMP did the trick. Everything is now working on my local server.

Thanks again Dan, your help has been greatly appreciated.
