    SOLVED Rockettheme and PHP 5.5.16

Posted 10 years 2 months ago
    • Hi,

I would like to ask you if Rockettheme + Gantry works on PHP 5.5.16 I am changing hosting and they have PHP 5.5.16. I have XAMPP at home and I have a problem with Ropskrocket on PHP 5.5.1.
I was looking here on the web what are the requirements, where Rockettheme works and did not find anything. This PHP 5.2.17+ (5.3+ recommended) is written on Gantry website. But no mention about PHP 5.5.x

      thank you for your answer.

    • Ok, I have a problem with saving in Roksprocket. I will have Nginx there, not Apache. Do you know if Rockettheme try it on 5.5.x or annouce it when it officialy works on 5.5.x? Or anything like that is announced?

    • In my opinion php 5.5 is too pioneering - I have seen many members with issues using php 5.5 that were then resolved when they moved back to php 5.4. I can't be specific about what the issues were and for sure we need to do more testing. My advice would be to steer clear of php 5.5 for now.

      Regards, Mark.

I've seen quite a few members have issues with NGINX. This link provides the Joomla requirements for NGINX -> http://www.rockettheme.com/docs/hosting/joomla.md#nginx

    • I can only re-iterate I would NOT be using PHP5.5 - it is too pioneering and I have seen many issues - I would leave it a few months until it becomes stable and we've had more of opporunity to test it more.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Thank you for your answer. Now it is clearer. Hosting has 5.5 so I will try to persuate them to change it. I wanted to try 5.5 because of cache.

How will I find out you (or RT) tested it and PHP 5.5 is suitable to use?

    • You will see a new release of the template that states this in the changelog http://www.rockettheme.com/product-updates or a new release of gantry that states this in the changelog gantry-framework.org . Also, of course there might be new releases of php 5.5 to fix their bugs too.
