    • Hey Karol it might pay to edit this and the one thats sticky in phpbb general to reflect the changes that have happened since RT pulled out of phpBB clubs and upgrades - these two topics are rather misleading and would break the new zealand fair trading act
I guess all it needs is a link to the same topic you posted with some rewording of these topics
The topic comes up really high on google searches
just a thought to make things less confusing and stop queries and the buying of templates with the wrong idea if they didnt read the pull out plans
      cheers

    • a bit more info might help them
Which Template are ya trying to use?

They make it pretty clear which ones are 3.1 capable but here is the compatibility chart of which ones are 3.1
      www.rockettheme.com/phpbb-styles-compatibility-matrix

You will notice all the themes from Audacity up are 3.1 capable templates
I am using 2 of these templates with 3.1.6 with no issues
Rockettheme has by far the best looking/quality 3.1 templates compared to the 100 or so at phpbb.com

If its a 3.0 Template ya bought it will never be updated to 3.1 ... best read this as well if you missed it www.rockettheme.com/blog/team/197-change...ento-for-rockettheme

If you did buy a 3.0 template in error might pay to read their refund policy in the Terms Of Service you agreed to when ya bought it
      www.rockettheme.com/legal/94-terms-of-service

Gino ... im just a regular user trying to give u as much info as posible

      cheers

    • Theme is Corvus.
I really love this theme. I bought corvus for joomla and it's awesome.
But now I really need a forum. And I want to use the same theme as the main site.

I downloaded this theme for phpbb3 many months ago, while I made a membership.
I really need this theme and I'm also willing to pay for buy it a second time. It's not really possible?

    • Sorry to say...yes.
What feature in 3.1 makes it required to run 3.1?
Otherwise 3.0 gives you pretty much the same experiance forum wise.

    • I do not need any 3.1 feature, but maybe 3.1 is more secure... I don't know, usually newest version are more secure...
I need a forum but I don't want to get hacked...

    • phpBB 3.0 will be around and secure for a long time yet
Their announcement of "end of life" where security updates will no longer be provided seems to have been put on hold because of the slow takeup of 3.1 and 3.2 which was meant to be released this month is a very very long way off yet

      For my customers I recommend
If you are on 3.0 already- stay until a lot of the new styles and extensions have been written - we find a lot of the "modifications" (3.0) have not been turned into stable "extensions" (3.1) yet eg: medals/reputation etc have not been released by antone yet. As you will see although there seems to be a lkot of styles many have been abandonded or not taken up yet
Even new forum customers are choosing 3,0 because of the lack of addons and decent styles
Most would never use the new phpbb3.1 features as Joe mentioned

If you are starting a brand new forum Im telling ALL who want to run a cms like joomla to ditch phpbb all together and use the really good joomla forum Kunena www.kunena.org/
eg you are using it right now
This is to get around having to use a bridge and funky tricks to integrate it into joomla
Rokbridge (rocketthemes bridge) no longer supportsjoomla 3.4 or phpBB3.1 unless you use Roelands very good continuation of the same component now called "manabridge" which to pay for his awesome efforts with it are no longer free (more info www.rockettheme.com/forum/free-phpbb-stuff/248047-rokbridge ) Other bridges are expensive or no longer being activly supported like jfusion
I rekon all rockettheme templates look awesome with their pre styled css (most templates i think) for kunena
I have found kunena fine with both small and huge high traffic forums
Kunena just bolts straight in and works - no integration or upgrade headaches ever again

So if you are looking long term like you are my best advice is go down the kunena road before it is too late (Its a freakin headache to convert phpbb forum to kunena later)

So if you are looking long term and phpBB MUST be used and ya dont have headaches with bridging/integration/extensions/templates then maybe start with 3.1 .... as i have said most have still choosen 3.0

I hope that bit of advice helps
