    Help Needed - Newbie

Posted 17 years 4 months ago
    • Just purchased templates and very confused?

Do I have to first upload to a server? or Can I uninstall and view on my harddrive? I have tried to do this for three days now and am no closer to solving this problem!!!!! I have not read or seen ANYTHING that clear shows how to view templates from the absolute start to the absolute end? Very confusing ??? If anyone can assist I will greatly appreciate it.

I have attempting to work with the Versatility III template.

    • Our templates are for Joomla (available from forum.joomla.org ). Are you using Joomla?

If so, the process of installing one our of templates is as follows.

      1. Login into the Administrator at www.yoursite.com/administrator
      2. Go to Installers > Templates - Site (in the top menu bar)
      3. Browser for the template package
      4. Install
      5. Go to Site > Template Manager > Site Templates
      6. Select the circular icon to the left of whatever template you have just installed
      7. Click Default on your Top Right button menu

The template will now be active on your Joomla install

      Hope that helps :)

    • It must be me... ??? For the past four days all I have been doing is reading, contacting anyone who will listen, but nothing is working.

I am getting the following error...

      "Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

Further, I have been told to:

      a) Disable firewalls etc... when attempting to upload.
      b) try changing the file name
      c) etc...

It has to be me and my good luck >:(

    • I did and I am still working through it. Just being new to this "coding" can be unnerving. Appreciate the feedback.

    • A place to start would be do you have a .htaccess in your website root, and if so, try disabling it (just rename it htaccess.txt)

Then you can see whether something in the .htaccess file is causing problems
