Username and Password Error

  • Username and Password Error

    • I've uploaded the files for the RocketLauncher with Populus; however, when I go to install it in my MySQL database I keep getting a username and password error. I place the files in the public_html folder and I have LunarPages hosting the site. I've already created a DB name, username, and password. Any ideas?

    • I just tried this 33 times and I still can't get it to work. I still get a username or password error. I've checked the spelling of the DB, username, and password, as well as localhost. I can install Joomla! just fine from within the Control Panel in my account, but I would like to use the RocketTheme to get everything in one shot.

    • I meant 3 times. Has anyone else had this problem with LunarPages?

    • I have been with LunarPages for almost two years, but I've always used Fantastico to install Joomla! I did, however, install SMF on my own, and didn't have any problems. Your issue is tough to diagnose without further details, because I don't see anything that points to LunarPages' setup as the cause of the problem. Here are a few things I would check:
      • I realize you've checked the spelling... are you sure you used the cPanel account login as the prefix to the database and username (such as "rock02_"?
      • In your cPanel mySQL section, double check that you actually attached the username to the database, and that it has "All" permissions checked.
      • If all else fails again, try deleting the database in cPanel, and starting with a fresh one.
If this all fails, I'll try installing a Rocketlauncher package in a test directory to see if I can shed any light on whether it's a Lunarpages issue.

    • I've recreated the DB and, ensured the prefix was on the DB and username. I assume the Host Name is localhost. Is the MySQL Table Prefix is the default jos_?

    • Yes, use jos_
When you enter that into the installer, you're simply telling it to use that as the prefix when it creates the tables and saves the information to the configuration file.

    • I've been using jos_; I was just wondering if I needed to change it.

Are there certain things that must be installed on the server before you can install the RocketLauncher?

Do you upload the files in the Joomla_RT_Populus folder directly to the public_html folder or can you upload the Joomla_RT_Populus folder to the public_html folder?
