  • Not understanding Coming Soon Overrides

    • I think I am looking for an override for my Coming Soon page....I read the previous forum topics I could find, but I am still confused what it is for and how to do it.

      I have paradigm installed, but this appears to be an issue with all templates.

      I am just starting the build-out for this site and therefore have the Coming Soon page running -- it is working perfectly and looks exactly like I want it to (figured all that out from the instructions I found).

      However, I have one article that I need to be accessible (direct from URL) -- an article with a two-page BreezingForms form. I have the form embedded in the article and assigned that article in the MENU options to have the paradigm (override) template. However, I can't access the page - it always reverts back to the coming soon page.

      Am I confusing the "override" feature with something else? If so, what is override for? and is what I am trying to do possible?

    • In Joomla tempaltes in the Global Configuration page is an option to set your site offline. This feature is used while the developer is doing some work and doesn't want the site visible. Access to the site is with Admin credentials only.

      Our "Coming Soon page" is a PHP file in your /templates/rt_templateName folder.
      It's a highly stylized version of the Joomla offline function.

    • So what is an override then?

      Is it possible to have the 'coming soon' page activated, and have one article or menu item still accessible by direct URL?

      A template override is a copy of the MASTER Default template that you can set Features differently than the MASTER. The ONLY option for the "Coming Soon" page is ON or OFF.

      Just like the core Joomla Offline state, your site is Offline so menus as well as anything else on the site is inaccessible. As for text content you should be able to modify the comingsoon.php file to show that.
