Hi, a friend of mine has asked me to update the tool employees use for quoting customers on the costs of products. It's a very complex Excel Sheet. The Excel sheet does the job well, but looks pretty awful. There are around 300-400 different products and once the quote is completed it is printed as a pdf and sent to the client. The print view/pdf looks far better than the Excel sheet.
Does anybody have experience of putting something like this together within a CMS like Joomla or Wordpress? I've seen something suitable in Magento but it seems overkill to run a Magento installation for this. The customer will never see this, it's just a pricing tool. I'd like the functionality of the trusty Excel sheet in a CMS so it is easier to keep up to date (everybody doesn't need to have the latest incarnation of the Excel sheet), and so it looks better visually.
In a nutshell, an online quoting system for products. To be used by a sales person. So far I've tried RSForm, but as good as that is, the data is too complex to be kept updated in RSForm by office/admin staff.
