This is a very general question but before I go and do something stupid, I thought I should ask.
I just found out that our company's website is hosted on a Unix server. Are there any known issues with Joomla on a Unix server and, more importantly, is is safe to use a newer Gantry 4 RT template and all RT extensions?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Donna
Actually a majority of Joomla sites are hosted on Linux servers. Linux is a variant of the original UNIX and is more robust than its parent. Since UNIX is a proprietary operating system while Linux is GNU.
Joomla! requires at least PHP and MySQL to run. Because Apache/PHP/MySQL runs best on UNIX or GNU/LINUX servers, these are the defacto standard for shared hosting plans.
