    Consolidating Templates?

Posted 9 years 8 months ago
    • Has any new RocketTheme users made the mistake of creating too many templates for changes? What was your strategy for consolidating templates?

    • Huh? I'm sorry I don't understand the question? What template? how would you create too many? What gantry version? consolidate what? Please would you post your URL, superuser id and pswd in the secure tab of your post and i'll have a look for you.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Hi Mark,
I'm sorry if I was not clear.
Being new to the RocketTheme brand, (which is awesome by the way), I am still learning my way around. I made a new override to a template where it was not necessary. What I want to do, is, work backwards and place the changes into only one template override since the third one was not necessary, if that makes sense. I guess all I have to do is make sure all the changes I made on override 3 apply to override 2 for the Home section.

    • There's no magic solution there - just make a note of all of the settings in the override that you don't need (maybe take some screen copies). Then delete that override and make changes in the whichever other template copy you need to.

You should definitely keep the number of template override to a minimum - this becomes even more true when you move on to Gantry 5 based templates.

      Regards, Mark.
