I am wondering how easy it is to have a duplicate site in French (another language) on a joomla site. What i would like to do is have a french button on the top menu and then when on the english site, and you click the french button it would go to the equivalent item in french.
Also, everything would be duplicated in french...french main menu, french content items, modules etc...
If anyone has an easy way to do this flipping back and forth without haveing 2 sepereate templates etc...that would be great!

Install Joom!Fish:

You can see on the frontpage of my site http://www.macgraph.com the flags for french and english. I have not done all translation, but you can see how it works. Or here: http://www.crearar.ch , french and spanish (no flag, but Español).
You can add more languages if you want. In Joom!Fish, you translate only what is needed.

Thanks this is great. I've installed it and on my site the option appears as a drop down box (

How do I change this to flags...or just to appear as an Item in the top menu bar?
Can i change where the language option is located? if so, how?

Just edit JoomFish language selection module, under parameters, you have Appearance of language selector: ul-list of images and you will have the flags.
Choose the position of this module (top, left, right, etc.) to place it where you want on your page. - Yves
