take a peek in your site global config. log in to the backend and go to site/global configuration /content tab and try checking the box -- show or hide......next to the read more link thing....

Are the read more links from the ultimate content display module? ???
If they are there is an option to turn them off in the module config... - Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
