Hi,
My home page on dev.southmaincycles.com has an icon menu particle and a grid content particle. The icons don't display very well in the icon menu, being white, even with a grey background, however the icons in the grid menu are the perfect color and very visible. How can I change the color of the icons in the icon menu particle so they are darker, or the same color as what I have in the grid content icons?

To create a custom CSS compatible with Gantry 5 please read this http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/adding-a-custom-style-sheet .
Remember to recompile CSS from base outline too.

- Thank you!! Loving the fast response. Just clarifying though which template do I update? Is it icon-menu.css? And after I make the change do I need to do anything else like clear cache, recompile or something else? I'm asking because I was play around making changes to the files (minor changes) and nothing was changing.

I gave you the instructions to follow? You are creating a custom.scss file and putting the CSS that I gave you in there. You should never change any of our original template files as they would be overwritten again by updates. Keep all your CSS customisation in that one custom.scss file.
After you have created that you press the "compile CSS" button on the styles tab of the base outline in Gantry 5 admin. Then you should clear server and browser cache.
If you can't get it work after that Please would you post your URL, superuser id and pswd in the secure tab of your post and i'll have a look for you.

You need to create scss file not a CSS file please. You can do this with FTP, once created your will be able to edit it from within Joomla but you can't create a file with the extension of "scss" to begin with inside Joomla.
After you have done that and recompiled css from base outline I can look again.
