A person who I am training (more like 'commenting') to configure RT sites said that she has run into 'vague spots' in the documentation that stops her progress. Being unable to clearly understand what is happening at each step of the process has kept her from completing the task. She asked if RocketTheme tests their documentation on people who are new to the work.
I think that is a great idea, if it isn't already being done. Since many of your customers are novices, then why not test the usability on a few novices? Developers can be 'too close to their work' to understand how much detail that a novice might need.
She was trying to go through the process of installing a Galatea rocketlauncher and configuring the site, with me out of the room, using the documentation. She finished the install, but hung up on setting up a coming soon countdown as the offline page. We'll work on that next week.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I'll take a look at our coming soon docs to see if we can make it a bit more simplified.
It should be noted that I'm not a developer at all. In a sense, these docs were written by a novice (me) for the very purpose of making it easier for us to spot the little bits that people can get hung up on. Sometimes, things fall through the cracks. When they do, we're happy to update and improve them.
Any additional insight you can provide would be invaluable, so please keep your feedback coming.
