Invisible Menu Item

I created a login component via the menu tool... it shows up in the main menu.. which is not what i want... i know i have to have it published, but can i make the link invisible in the menu?..i believe it would be a parameter.

- hmm...invisible as in invisible to everyone or a particular usertype? :: unpublish it in the admin backend! under the menu section

Well if you don't want it in the main menu, where do you want it?

Maybe i should back track... the real functionality i want is the login component (not module) as the first page the user sees, the only way i can seem to pull that of, is to have it as the first menu item, however after the user logs in, i dont want "log In" as a menu item.
So if theres a way to get the login component to show up on the first page, thats basically what im looking for.
