    • Looks great! What is the main difference in using a mask versus applying a gradient direct to the mirrored text?

And what product did you use to capture the screencast? I have a project that will require this.

    • The main advantage of using a mask like that is once applied, you can change the background color/pattern etc, and not have to mess with the text's gradient. The text's mirrored effect is totally independent of what it sits on. This is powerful as you move/edit your text or background.

The program I used is called iShowU

The area selection tool I used is one available in OmniDazzle

    • Great. Worked like a charm, here, Andy. Is this something that you have in mind for the future?

Also, is there a tutorial for those of us who use PhotoShop? I have used PS since version 1 (no layers!). I can do that in PS but there may be others that can't.

QuickTime for Windows loaded right up! I have a new iMac. as well. No problems there.

    • I'de like to do more tutorials in the future. This was more of an experiment in tools, video codecs, etc.

    • Andy,

I wonder if you've checked out Captivate. It's formerly RoboDemo, but was bought by Macromedia - then Adobe. It's great for tuts and outputs to .SWF files.
