    Updating Theme or... ?

Posted 8 years 2 months ago
    • Hi there. :)
I built a site with Ximenia in Joomla, i think it was 4 years back. A person on the Joomla forum said that the template is old and I shoud replace it. Does that mean replace it with an updated version of ximenia?

I want to implement Google fonts and he said that a new templete has (or would have?) provision for implementing Google fonts automatically (or easliy).

      Help is apprecicated :)
      Ralph :)

    • You are using v1.8 of Ximenia (fixed version of template) and the latest version is v1.9 (which contains minor fixes for PHP7.x). So you don't need to update unless you want to use PHP7 (but it's always best to be on latest version).

Google fonts can be added to any template - see google fonts docs to learn how to do this.

    • Thank you
I don't know PHP so no real point in updating unless it has other benefits or makes it easier to work with if we ever get someonela else to do things beyond our expertise? :)

    • Joomla uses PHP ? It's more a case of if your hosting company forces you to upgrade to php 7 (which a lot are doing now) that you will have to update RT products to latest versions too to keep your site working.

PHP7 is much faster than previous versions.
