Well, I can understand that a 10 year old thread is virtually useless, but hey - IT'S A TEN YEAR OLD THREAD! Many here can look back with fond memories and the friendships that were stuck up then. We take pride in being associated with such a record breaking thread and the great association with RT. However it has been killed off and ended by a guy in a suit, no less! lol No offense intended.
I say, BRING BACK THE 10 YEAR OLD THREAD! One day ppl joining now will have those same fond memories when it's a 20 year old thread - or beyond! It's the freewheeling spirit of RT that is memorialized in that thread! ANDY, DON'T YOU REMEMBER THE GOOD OLE DAYS? Don't let RT be just another corporate stiff that has no sense of humor. PLEEEEEESE! BRING back the 1O YEAR OLD THREAD! I'VE HAD THE SHAKES FOR A WHILE NOW.

Which thread are you referring to please because nothing has been removed? Just click on your name and you can see them all.

I really see no point in creating another one of those topics - I really don't think it add any value or helps anyone.
But each to their own...
If you have any issue/comment by all means create a new post and we'll be glad to help - I just don't think we need a post that hundreds of members chip in on and all get an email about every comment someone makes...

Respectfully, I know it doesn't ADD value, but does it subtract value? I don't think so. Although it has been a while since I posted there, I did subscribe to the thread and for years received regular posts in my email. It was those posts that ALWAYS turned me back to RT to see the development of how RT was getting along and the templates. You can also check, but, over the years, I've kept my Developer Membership alive, even though I didn't have an immediate need. It was the competitive, innovative and adventerous spirit that placed RT above other template companies. I do believe that spirit is still alive, I'm just dissappointed that that fun thread was terminated by sphincter squeezin'.

Alright, so here's the story behind that thread. It's something I went over again and again in the open letters calling for my termination, head, first born, etc. But, I'll go over this crazy situation one more time for old time's sake.
First, I feel obligated to tell you that the decision to close the thread was ultimately made by Andy, not me. I'm pretty sure Andy never wears a suit. If he does, he probably pulls it off a lot better than I do!
Problem
The reason was simple. It had shifted far and away from its purpose. It became a sounding board for anger and frustration and there were so many people repeating the same comments that the answers to the important questions would get lost in pages of comments from people saying that we didn't answer questions. It was a repeating pattern and no matter how many times we posted the answers, the feedback remained that we weren't answering questions.
It was exceedingly difficult to maintain the conversation. This also made way for the biggest complaint of the time: we didn't communicate very well. To that point, we agree. We needed to change something, and that thread was the first step.
Solution
I have been giving regular updates in the forum's general section since the thread closed. I've also done numerous "ask me anything" style threads and answered every question (even the trolly ones) as completely as I possibly could. We are making an effort to be far more transparent than ever before - and we hope that our communication with you the community has improved as a result.
By focusing on topics, we make our answers and updates far easier to search for and locate. Rather than burying the information someone needs under pages of "we hate the blue you used in ____ theme!" we can better relay data and receive feedback from the community.
My condolences for your favorite thread. It is missed greatly, but its time had come.
