    Hadron FontAwesome Incompatibility (Icons)

    Posted 2 years 3 months ago
    • Server Details (Linux/Windows, Hosting service, etc)Webhosting / Interserver
      PHP version7.4
      Platform (name and version)GRAV (Latest version as of today)
      Template/Extension (name and version)Hadron
      Link to the Issue volvl.com/
      IssueUsing the latest version of everything, while modifying FontAwesome's version from 4 to 5, the search icon(s) and possibly others, but at the moment just the search icon, is not rendering. It works fine if I go back to 4 (Legacy), however it breaks once you try to use a newer version of FontAwesome.

    • Yes, I also did a standard IT reset with those settings and turned them all off/back on again.

    • Use this code:
      .nav-search .g-search::before {
        font-family: "Font Awesome 5 Free";
        font-weight: 900;
      }

      Addd this to your custom.scss file (see gantry 5 docs to learn more).

      Regards, Mark.

    • Will do, however I think I found an issue with Gantry/FontAwesome's implementation itself going through the files.

      File One:
      See: /plugins/gantry5/assets/css/font-awesome5-all.min.css

      This image is hidden for guests.
      Please log in or register to see it.

      File Two:
      See: /plugins/gantry5/assets/css/font-awesome5-pseudo.min.css

      This image is hidden for guests.
      Please log in or register to see it.

      File Three:
      See: /plugins/gantry5/assets/css/font-awesome5-shim.min.css

      This image is hidden for guests.
      Please log in or register to see it.

    • [ Custom SCSS worked, however I do think it is a problem that those 3 files are throwing errors - which is why custom SCSS declaring the search worked. ]

      It worked for me when I tried it.

      I modified my previous post, had to clear Cache and recompile CSS.

    • The files are supplied by fontawesome and they are fine. The files contain multiple browser instructions that are ignored by some browsers and acted upon by others.
