Migration from Joomla 3.10 to Joomla 4.4

Posted 5 months 6 days ago
    • Hello.

I have several website based on Joomla 3.9.x, PHP 7.4/8.0 and Gantry 5.

On the Joomla Templates Compatibility Matrix page I can see that the templates installed on my websites are available for J4 (Versla, Myriad, Callisto, etc.).

All my third part extensions/modules/plug-ins are also available for Joomla 4.4.

My hosting panel can switch to PHP 8.1 and 8.2 very easily.

Of course I know that the first step is update Joomla 3.9 to 3.10.

The procedure for migrating from J3.10.x to J4 it is explained in many tutorials on the web so it's not a big problem.

I just need to know if the templates' modules positions and assignments will remain the same on the new site......or will something bad happen?

      Thank-You

      Ettore

    • Hi!
I did the migration by transferring the site with Akeeba backup to a subdirectory.

Then I updated to Joomla 3.10 and removed some components (RokBox, RokCandy, etc).

The update to Joomla 4.4 was successful and the site works correctly (with PHP 8.1).

For now I have no intention of upgrading to Joomla 5.
