Last June my lovely son died.

I have promised myself to get my +ss into gear and put together a great tribute to him. It would be good if I could get this built for the first anniversary.

OK I'm a real newbie to Joomla, but been around the computer block for a long time so I can take pointers and usually figure the rest out.

I have a lot of photos I can scan in, presumably png is the preferred lightweight format?

I love what these Rocket guys have done, so I need one of their templates - I know it's subjective but which is best? A lot of photos, ok I'll put a variety of text, memories and that kind of stuff, also I want to put up a blog so folk can add their comments to it - how do I do that - any tutorials?

I notice that there are some image components/extensions in the .org site - are there templates here that handle images?
I'm hoping to organize it into kind of themes - like baby years/preteen, teens, 20s/married/kids
Anyone think of different way of presentation??

      thanks for any help/pointers

      george

    • My condolences on the loss of your son George.

The ideal format for photos on the web is .jpg, .png files are great for graphics. Btw, for best results scan your photos 1 at a time, not a bunch at once.

I did a tribute site very recently using the Carbonite template - older, but nice. You may want to have a look at it. I added a comment feature to this site so that folks could leave comments also. If you want to view the site, feel free to PM me for the url. I don't have a lot of pics on the site due to the fact that there aren't a lot of pics that I have access to of this individual.

There are several ways of presenting photos with Joomla, I suggest doing some research and seeing what would work best for you.

      Best of luck and cheers.
