Hi!
First: sorry for my poor english!
What changes in supersucker.css are necessary for that behavior of navi:
originally submenu changes already at hover of a item in main menu.
but I want: a "click" to that item should be necessary.
I agree I would love to see the menu work like the one on this site.
i.e. on rockettheme.com you do not see the children until the parent is clicked.
Flyout menus are tough to navigate, one slip of the wrist and POOF! the flyouts are gone. They are tough for computer novices, heck they are tough for me, especially if I am on my laptop.
I am going to hunt and peck throgh rt_supersucker.php and see what happens. :-\
NOPE,
Unless I am missing something, splitmenu gives me a vertical menu of the children in the right or left box .(depending on setttings) Not at all like the menu on THIS page.
What I and many others are asking for is a menu just like the one on this page. There are five chiden under "Forums". Now when I move my selector over "Joomla" I can see it is a link (it changes color on hover) but I cannot see the children of "Joomla" until I actually click on the link. This is a very simple design.
Flyouts will not work for my visitors. (older non computer type people).
Now, yes, I could use splitmenu and hope my visitors will realize the menu in the right or left user box is dynamic (changes depending on location) or I can keep being a pain in the a#* until I know that this request is impossible.
Suckerfish is very very close to what alot of people have been asking for. It is almost identical to the menu on this page with the exception of the suckerfish flyouts.
I tried modding rt_suckerfish.php (hunt and peck) but I have no idea what I am doing or even if this seemingly simple mod is possible. If this is an absolutely impossible mod, please let me know, and I will search for a different menu and drop this topic altogether.
I hope I don't come off sounding like a nudge.
It is just that I have searched this forum and found multiple posts on this topic an NO definitive answer.
I have seen responses by moderators, that I don't think completely understood the question. I will try to phase a question in such a way that it can be answered yes or no.
Here'goes
Is it possible to modify the suckerfish menu in such a way that the menu does not show flyouts on hover: yet shows the children upon click?.
If the answer to the previous question is no. Then this thread is done.
If the answer to the previous question is yes, then.....
Is the mod a couple lines of code, or a complete rewrite?
I have well understand your question.
And ... for that you must use splitmenu.
Splitmenu has the particularity to separate top levels menu items and the sublevel items.
Moreover the sublevels nav don't need to be displayed vertically, you can take a look to Globalbiz.
The equivalent of rt_splitmenu.php in this template is called md_submenu.php
RT really needs some documentation to dummy proof the utilization menus. Not so much supersucker and suckerfish they setup fairly easily. This split menu thing I just can not grasp. Dan L says that splitmenu is used on this site and Youyou keeps telling me I want the splitmenu. I won't argue, with the wizzards.
It seems I have an set-up issue. I have parents with children in my main menu and when I choose splitmenu from my index.php it works as the gentleman has explained in the popular "superfish, suckerfish and splitmenu post"
The split menu in the RT demo works exactly like my site. Click on a Top parent and you get a vertical menu of the children in the side boxes. It looks nothing like the RT site. There is no space under the menu.
When I get this thing configured properly will an area automaticaly be created below the horizontal top menu to make room for the children?
Sorry for any mis spellin gotta run check back later
and thanks again
Walt
