Template Install Error

hi all at rockettheme
i had versatility template installed. all worked fine. then wanted to change the logo to finalize the site. tried it via ftp, didn't work. did a search on the forum. found this article:

i copied the logo to the .zip file, went in the acp, chose installers site template and became this error:
upload template - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.
pload template - Failed
Installation file not found:
/home/www/web480/html/online/media/install_4501bab43b00a/
so i extracted the template .zip, uploaded it by ftp, but couldn't see the template in the acp.
so i downloade another rockettheme template, versatility II lime, tried the installer (no changes to the .zip) and gained the same error.
when i try to install a template, the joomla says:
media/ Writeable
administrator/templates/ Writeable
templates/ Writeable
images/stories/ Writeable
what i'm doing wrong? please help.

- try the .tgz file rather than the .zip file.

- thanks for the quick reply, .tgz worked fine ! this time, i will install joomlaxplorer and try it this way to change the image!

Hi
I'm getting the same errors when uploading the .zip template, so I had a look for the .tgz file but the only file download button available is for a zip file.
Where may I get this other file format for uploading now?

Thanks for getting back so soon.
I tried to upload the smf version of fire, using the zip file, by using the install site template in joomla administrator and I got the same error msgs as described in the earlier posts above. I get the feeling there's more to it than that though. Do I need to install some SMF files first, I notice that the template install instructions refer to an SMF administrator. I thought this template included the bridge as well.

the smf .zip version is for smf only. You need to download the Joomla .tgz version from here:
www.rockettheme.com/option,com_docman/ta.../gid,118/Itemid,113/
