    • Clients are great until you want a positive decision, then it's all umms and aaaahs!

When you ask them to take the rose tinted spectacles off they do get a bit upset :)

Amazing how a client asks for a redesign and then you end up with a site that looks almost identical to their existing site as they could not bear to lose that or that or this etc.

This job would be so much easier without customers; It just wouldn't pay as well

      Regards

      David

    • I use a packaged I created called "17 Steps to Your Website!" all designed to guide them step by step to completing their website. I use Google Docs to work with them with it and they can't skip ahead or jump back - each step has got to be completed in full to go forward with the project.

Trust me - it is designed to slap those rose tinted glasses right off of them and into reality of what it takes to make their website right. So, they stop wasting time and get it done right the first time.

Anyone wants to see a copy of it hit me up.

Mean while back at this thread...

As always - great job on the template RT TEAM! I can wait to dive into the back of it.

    • Hi Wingman,

I did similar with a product I purchased called webdev docs. I am in the process of using Joomla with ProjectFork to turn each client site into a project with milestones and tasks. That way the project team - me and the relevant client contacts - all have access to the information.

Will save me a few phone calls as every update gets emailed to the group 8)

As super admin I get to see all tasks for all projects so i can see how late I need to work, or not, as the case may be.

      Regards

Yes, that sounds great. I use Google docs for that as it is very useful for collaborating. Everyone can write on a doc at the same time.

So, while I am sure both tools are great - I found just having the tool was not enough. Hence, 17 Steps to Your Website insures there is a sensible work flow - I use building a house as a example.

Meaning you can't build your house and as they are painting the newly finished walls you can't decide to move your kitchen to a different part of the house and redesign it and not expect it to cost more or effect everything. Zoning, regulations, ripping down the house, moving pipes and gas etc...is all going to cost and effect everything.

So, I created a thread to share and discuss it with you guys! Enjoy!

    • As I continue to check more and more out about Reaction.. I think this is now going to be the template of templates.. I don't know what site you couldn't build with this template, I look at all my old sites, and see easily how I could swap them all over Reaction and no one would know the difference.

The only thing i have to get with this template is the Module Styling, kind of like Populous that has separate styling for the modules. Most of my clients want separated modules like that..

EDIT:: Styling that makes the module the bubble or box shapes..

Don't worry guys - we will get that for you. You just sit back and we will do all the work.

Just kidding - Couldn't resist!

I'm rebuilding an old, old site of mine with it. The site I use to make lots of money with before I got sick and had to take a vacation from life. But "I am back baby!"

Nailing the last few contracts not only gave me the finances to start it up again, but the confidence boost I needed to take that plunge.

Perfect timing too, cause this new template will be used to help me get back to making da big bucks again!

Happy days are here again! Oh and I am not bragging - I am sharing my happiness with you guys!

    • Ha! You nutty! :)

I've been tinkering with Gantry. After enabling CURL I had no probs. Of course the warnings above the template are there but they don't effect anything.

Gantry is fab. I really am scratching my head on this one- not because it's complicated (learning quickly), but because Andy can now kick back while we build any template we can think of with this one. lol Has Andy lost his mind? We don't need any further RT Templates. Just this one! lol

I guess RTis now boiled down to being a Design House. lol
