    • If anyone can think of a suitable way to minimize the warez'ing let me know. I really don't know how to do it short of encrypting the tempalte which would render it useless as you would be unable to make modifications.

    • what about subscitions?

i'm sure de paid members wont share the templates, if ou could in some way prevent false subscritions the risk would be less

    • Well that's the problem isn't it. I use paypal and 2checkout which for the most part have very good fraud protection. But from time to time people hack paypal accounts and people use stolen credit cards, the only other solution would be to have some kind of waiting period after payment but users are generally not very happy about being charged and then not receiving the goods straight away. You should see some of the emails I get when people don't get the login information within 10 minutes!

    • Excuse me, but I must be thick today (just today, I'm pretty sharpe on other days, mostly), but I followed the link and didn't see what you guys were talking about.

Am I correct in assuming that a person has been buying templates from RT and then re-selling them or just giving them away?

      I so, I say...

      DAMN THEM!!!

Seriously, what about some sort of validation script? When a template is installed, it will automatically match with a database back at RT and allow the template to be used. Is this possible or have I been smoking too much crack?

to install templates you can always ftp files by hand, the only thing the instaler does is upload and unpack the archive..

The top link in the post is old, i have seen in a warez forum that i prefer not to post here but all rocket theme templates are available via rapidshare ..

    • Hi Rui,

I was thinking at the point when the RT Template is selected as 'default' in the Joomla Admin Control Panel, as the selection took place a script could be sent to 'unlock' the template - a domain name, computer owner or etc.. Is that a possibility or am I squeezing my sphincter too hard about this.

I work with Verizon's application development (creative, not programmer) and we're always find some way to close some sort of loophole for hackers.

I'm a stickler on software piracy. I've worked on a few small titles and every sale counted. I'm sure that Andy, though he is a 'high road' sort of guy, doesn't (CORRECTION) appreciate a sale lost.

    • If anyone can think of a suitable way to minimize the warez'ing let me know.

Personnaly, If I was you, I would place many folders called "Rockettheme_templates.zip" (and some variation name and content ... name of your themes ...) in Emule or other peer-2-peer networks. But the templates placed in theses folder should be brocken and so people will lost them and spend time to have false files inusable.
Another way is to do the same but without broke so much and place a stange (to have only your template found on google) hidden text "Gat Socteme Temaz". So if you do a seach on google, you could found some bad users of your templates, you take the addresse and you send a mail to all to say them you have discovered their unlegal use. It will discourage some of them and perhaps they will take a Rokkettheme account. You could perhaps also place a js.files (or php?) which send you an email (with the site name) if the hacker use your templates.

Just a suggestion ... the first way will perhaps be very efficient with not so much effort.
      Good luck ;)

    • It really is like trying to kill ants though. I could spend my whole day attempting to squash this problem and really make no headway in the grand scheme of things. Frankly I barely have time enough in the day without this problem too.

    • Quite honestly, if I was in your place, I'd just delete this topic from the forum. Those who use warez will continue to find ways to get them, but there's no point giving others ideas or indeed sources where to look for them.
