Hello all, I am new to web design and templates and find myself very confused right off the bat, I am trying to download the MetaMorph template and when I hit the download button and click the temp name there are 11 items on the page do I download them all, are there any straight forward direction that I can flow so I can get started. Please if any one know the answer it would be very helpful
Which version of Joomla do you have / want to have?
If you already have a Joomla site up and running, you'll only need the template file itself for whichever version you're running, 1.0 or 1.5. It installs just as any other component, module, or plug-in.
If you don't already have a site up and running, you can use one of the Rocket Launcher packages which includes a complete install of Joomla and the template.
This save you a step when setting up a site because the template is installed automatically when you install Joomla.
(I'd recommend going with 1.5, 1.0 is reaching its end of life.)
The source files are all the image files associated with the template. They are installed when you install the template and are provided as a source if you decide to edit the images as you customize your site. Note: the images files are associated template, backgrounds, shadows, etc., they're not pictures.
The tutorials are helpful; great for getting started!
The extensions are included in the Rocket Launcher, if you use it you won't need these. If you apply the template to an existing install, you'll have to add them also.
So, if Joomla is not installed yet, you need just one or two files; the Rocket Launcher and the tutorials.
If you are just getting started be sure to install the sample data to replicate the site, you'll be asked if you want to install it or not during setup. That way you can see how everything looks on the back end. I also recommend doing a second install without the sample data to build your actual site. IMHO, it's easier to add to to a site than it is to reorganize one.
thank you very much for your answer, here is the kicker I am a Mac user and do not have the abillity to extract files the way it is described in the instruction.
