    200 Pages Magazine in Replicant

    Posted 16 years 7 months ago
    • Hi at Rockettheme,

      We are moving on in our development of our portal, which already are using several RocketTheme Templates, and have today decided to used the Replicant v2 template for our online Property Magazine at the portal . The online magazine will run parallel which the printed hardcopy version of the magazine.

      We are using Adobe Illustrator for all pages in the printed version and I would like to ask you to recomend the way forward to convert all the printed magazine pages into Rockettheme/Joomla pages.Taking into concideration that we every month will need to do the convertion for the next issues of the magazine, approx 200 pages each time.

      Thanks, ::)

    • While I cant recommend any progs by name, could i recommend creating a (standalone) flash flipbook and add it to the site using a wrapper? Have you also considered the size implications of having a 200 odd page mag online each publication? Not only would you need a fast server with exceptional bandwidth, but so will your readers???

    • Scribd could be an alternative. Your Illustrator pages can be easily saved in PDF, assembled and uploaded to Scribd. You can embed the code into an article in joomla. View mode available: list, book, slideshow, tiled. The pages should of course be optimized and the magazine split into sections if too big.

    • Hi Dean and Yves,

      Sorry for this late reply but we are working flat out at the moment at our portal project. Secondly many thanks for your kind feedback on this post.

      Dean, we are already testing the Flipbook but your idea of adding it to a wrapper we haven't thought about, but we will. We have the server capacity and I trust that users with a "today"standard ASDL connection will be able to download our online magazine. Next week we will start on some new load tests. We have looked at the two link you provided and when we have make a final decision for the way forward I will report back to you.

      Yves, Scribd is interesting and you can even market your online publication on this site. We will give it a go and see what it can do for us and report back here.

      Cheers,
      Finn
