    • Hi,
      I'm a Joomla newbie and am trying to create something like the newsbox in www.lifeteen.com to appear on my frontpage.

      I haven't quite settled on a template as my customer is looking for something fresh and cool for a teen audience.. currently looking at Chromatophore.

      There will be a limited number of known people adding to the newsbox. I don't know if I should be looking at creating a blog or forum but I need an avatar to appear as in the lifeteen site. Do I need to buy a plugin or can this be done with the free Joomla plugins?

      Please help as my head is melting looking at forums for the answer...

      Forums are great for discussion, helping each other and gives individuals a chance to connect with others...sorta of how we have connect via posting in RT Forums.

      Blogs are a great way to allow individuals to express themselves, share information or make them feel part of the community by opening up to others on a broader sense.

      So, there is no VS. as each is unique in its own way.

      So, my suggestion is - add both they work well together.

      As for this subject -

      1. what blog system will you be using or will you be using the standard Joomla blog?
      2. what forum will you be using.

      Knowing this will help you then search for how to add Avatars in to a module that features the blog or forum. You might have to look at a couple of forums or blog systems and see which one has that feature in one of its extensions.

      Now, that you brought up this idea of the avatars to my attention - I am interested too. So, I will be doing some of my own homework looking it up.

      Sorry on the last post - I am not awake lol I thought you meant blog vs forum. :P
