    Admin Theme

Posted 16 years 5 months ago
    • Quick question: Will Rocket Theme be creating any admin themes for Joomla 1.5? Perhaps themes that already match Club Templates?

    • Log into your Joomla admin.

      Go to the template manager.

      Click the Administrator tab.

Look at the name of the Author. :)

Anyway, the idea was kicked around a few times in this forum and the general consensus about creating admin themes was "why?". RT has limited resources, why dedicate any of them to the admin interface? You're the only one who sees it, the readers see the front, not the back.

    • I don't think any developers make themes for the back end, do they?
    • Thanks,

    • I was on a Joomla template site (I'd hate to name names in this forum but a Google search would do the trick) that offered templates for the back end. They had some nice functionality and had a custom look.

    • I could use a custom backend template that had extra options and a sexy look for sure.

    • Yeah, from what I've seen, there isn't more options. It's just presented in a more user friendly fashion. More critical buttons laid out in certain menus and blah blah blah. Also, if you have multiple people making changes to your site and accessing the admin section, it would be cool to have a custom look.

Makes sense. I was just curious.

    • I think a couple of good admin templates would be a great idea. Personally, I like the look of the WordPress backend. It really looks like it has had the touch of a designer.

A lot can be said for making an interface easier to use. The template with the icons is a main part of this, as is placement of different items in the intereface.

Joomla would benefit from a little "makeover" in the backend. Several of the websites I am operating have a group of people taking care of the daily updates and it would be nice to be able to present things in a better way - I do not believe that the template that exists now is the absolute best there can ever be?

It would be very nice to have a dashboard that was a little more like WordPress so you are greeted with the latest statistics about the site - how many visitors, what pages have been the most visited, what are the new articles etc. in one view so I do not have to click to see it. Also, it would not hurt if the design was a little more slick and that I could add a logo to the back end too.
