    installation problems

Posted 16 years 6 months ago
    • Hey Folks,

For some reason I'm running into installation problems on my localhost. In the install routine I get an error when I try to load the sample data.

Error: the XML response that was returned from the server is invalid.

I've read a bit on the forums, but I'm just not getting it. I've tried changing permissions and ignoring the error and changing the config.php file after the installation but I seem to be missing something. I'm trying to install a couple of the more recent rocketlauncher package ... I've never had a problem before.

      Can anyone clue me in?

      Thanks!
      Tom

    • Yup, I've read that ... can't say anything worked for me yet. As I mentioned, I seem to be missing something. I've been away from the community for a number of months while I explored Drupal and I've never had an issue with Joomla installs before.

    • Did everything get uploaded properly?
Is the ownership of the files/dirs correct?
Do you have the lastest PHP?

I believe all files and permissions are okay.

I'm unable to load the sample data (which is the whole purpose of rocketlauncher) and when I get to the finish screen I see

No database selected SQL=INSERT INTO users VALUES (62, 'Administrator', 'admin', 'This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.', '93eb60a195f36bfc1341319277a2e434:RfPJ9qEz81ysLM0pJ4hqQPxh4Rl3jLTW', 'Super Administrator', 0, 1, 25, '2008-11-28 13:26:12', '0000-00-00 00:00:00', '', '')

    • Is the database setup properly and do you have the correct login info + database prefix?

    • Tables and prefix seems okay. I'm not understanding why the database settings in config.php are blank.

If I modify the config file manually and drop the tables, how do I import the rocketlauncher sql with jos_ instead of #?

    • I replaced all of the #__ with jos_ and dumped it into the database, but I can't login. Did all of this start with 1.5.8? I just can't get anything installed on my local machine using the installer and that is a first for me.

    • 1.5.8 has had some issues. Try installaing 1.5.7 and then update to 1.5.8 :)

I think it's your server that is acting up though.

    • Well, after banging my head against the wall for a while I decided to try installing 1.5.8 the normal way using ie7 instead of FF3.0.4 and voila ... the installation went without a hitch. Can anyone tell me why this is?
