I am not sure whether to move the entire structure up one so that the home page remains
www.ukfisherman.com
or to keep all the urls with the fishing directory in them and redirect the home page to
www.ukfisherman.com
(hope that makes sense).
Does anyone have any advice as to which strategy would be the best or does it make little difference? My thoughts are that it might be good to have the word fishing in the URLs for SEO purposes.
I don’t know if there will be any SEO benefit, for me it’s personal choice I have Joomla sites that are in domain root and sites that are in sub-folder with home, web, site as names for sub-folders.
There's no downside to having the site in a sub-folder though is there???
The site at
www.ukfisherman.com
has got reasonable page rank (4) as its been going for a couple of years etc. If I now set the home page effectively as
www.ukfisherman.com/fishing
and set a redirect from the old home page domain, does this mean that google et al will have to re-index the home page and my page rank will be lost?? Not sure that makes sense but hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
