  • Frontend/Backend CRASH!!!

    • I've really done it this time. I was trying to follow directions and I added something to my htaccess file but I did something BAD wrong and crashed backend as well as front end. Here is the thread:

      I just wanted to post here, too, so I can get help ASAP! I can't even get in the backend to undo what I did. I'm completely shut out. HELP!

    • Well, if you back up your site regularly, replace the file you edited with one from one of your back ups.

      If not, all might not be lost, perhaps your host performs regular back ups and you can restore from a back up prior to the change.

    • JEM .. the htaccess file is empty right ? why cant we just erase the new added lines .. instead of getting it from a restored package

    • Crap! It is not my day. I'm having trouble connecting with my FTP. I'm getting authentification failed. @@ Why now?

      I'll try the above advise when/if I ever get into my FTP. Grrr.......

    • Default htaccess which comes with Joomla isn't empty.

      Try to do a copy of your current htaccess and then delete it.
      Then, rename the default Joomla htaccess.txt to .htaccess

    • Do ya'll know the reasons why I'm getting "authentication failed" when trying to connect my FTP?

      I'm getting this error when I run a test:

      Response: 331 Give any password.

      Response: 230 logged on.
      Checking for correct external IP address
      IP 192.168.1.100 bjc-bgi-b-baa
      Response: 510 Mismatch. Your IP is 64.194.97.121, ge-bje-jh-bcb
      Wrong external IP address
      Connection closed

      I don't know how my IP address got changed by itself. Weird.
