Just curious because I usually install two and sometimes three versions of a new template when starting out.
A) One complete install with the RL and sample data for reference - to this I make no modifications, I just use it as a guide One complete install with the RL and no sample data - this is where I build my site
C) One complete install with the RL with or without sample data - on this I test components before installing on the future live site
Your suggestions are great, but I am afraid that I am missing something in the translation.
I logged into the Go Daddy hosting and deleted the Go Daddy Joomla install.
I went to SQL dBases and deleted the previously installed MySQL dBase. When I have deleted both, when I go under Content FTP Client should I be seeing anything under Remote System? It seems to me if i have deleted Go Daddy's Joomla install and their MySQL install this should be empty.
Then when I create a new MySQL dBase, with my user name and password; I have a choice of 4.1 or 5, which should I choose?
You suggested that I use my own FTP client which is Transmit. In the Google CP > FTP Client it gives me my server ip, should I use that on the line where it asks for the server or the dedicated ip that Go Daddy gave me?
Assuming I get connected, you suggested that I upload the compressed RL for the template I want to use, and the RL tutorial suggests uploading it into the public folder. Do I make the 3 joomla folders first, upload the compressed file with data into one, and upload the compressed file without data into the other two folders and expand them within each folder?
Then the tutorial suggest that I, through a browser, install Joomla. Is it the install PHP file that I launch?
I guess this is enough questions for now. I really do appreciate all your help,
Not Familiar with GoDaddy or the FTP Client you’re using, but to summarize.

FTP the folder and its contents to, depending on your platform, public_html or httdocs
See the screen shot, I have several folders in the root, for Joomla they are ‘joomla_1’, ‘joomla_2’, ‘joomla_3’, ‘joomla_4, and ‘site’.
You can create these beforehand, unzip the package to your desktop, then FTP the entire contents to each folder. Maybe in your case, ‘joomla_1’, ‘joomla_2’, and ‘site’, or whatever you decided on.

I’m not sure what you’re asking here. You could post a screen shot of maybe Sam will know.

Choose 5, the latest version is always better! Remember, here you will need three databases, one for each install.

Sam said something about using your own, don’t know why but I guess it’s because an FTP client is easier to use than the FTP in the CP.

Can't unzip/tar stuff on GoDaddy from their control panel. It's a bummer.
Sorry if I confused you with extracting files on the server, from what Sam says, you’ll have to FTP the files.
Note: again, I don’t want to add to the mix too much, but should be able to upload once to one of the folders and then through the CP copy the contents from one folder to the next.
If you’re not comfortable with this, just FTP to all the folders from your desktop.

Yes, another important point! When you install thought a host’s CP, everything happens ‘behind the scenes’, just click install and have a coffee…
Refer to reply # 4 for a walk through of the install process
You don’t have to browse to the install directory, when browsing to the folder, if joomla is not installed yet, the install process is invoked automatically. and you'll see the first screen...
If the restrictions of Go Daddy will prove to be too limiting, or make it harder for me to get started. Would you e-mail me off-line what hosting company you might recommend for a joomla site?

The info you have provided has been extremely helpful, but much of it doesn't match up with what I see under the Go Daddy Control Panel.
For instance, "FTP the folder and its contents to, depending on your platform, public_html or httdocs". What I see is an HTML folde with a lot of folders, one is the template folder with a stock joomla template, is this where I should create the 3 joomla folders? Then FTP up the compressed MediaMogul file with data into one folder and without into the other two folders?
Assuming I get this correct, then I need to install the joomla in each folder, correct? Do I do that within the Go Daddy CP, or externally via a webrowser. I have the IP to be able to view my site and enter joomla's admin side, do I use that to do the install or some other method?
Thanks, I enjoy learning new things, but I keep getting the feeling that the interface at Go Daddy is inhibiting me.
