Looking at VPS plans advice please

Posted 16 years 5 months ago
    • My current VPS has been pretty terrible, I get it for free from a friend. And my websites been down for abut 9 days now. . . which is unacceptable. So I'm looking at getting my own VPS hosting. I plan on running lx admin host-in-a-box hosting enviroment. Also it is just my joomla website and possibly 1 other max.

Both of these plans are the same price, and both are on Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300s - 4 x 2.5Ghz Cores in Dallas Texas (I highlighted what caught my eye as the differences)
      Plan A:
      Premium 512 - *NEW* (12 Available) - 512MB "Full Traditional" OpenVZ VPS
      Equal Share CPUs
      512MB Guaranteed Ram - Burstable to 1024MB
      50GB HDD
      500GB Monthly Transfer Allowance
      Equal Share 100Mb Network Port
      FREE Daily Off-Server Backup
      Plan B:
      Budget 999 (98 Available) -
      CPU 900MHZ
      90GB HDD
      RAM 900MB
      BANDWIDTH 900GB
      NETWORKPORT 100mbps. 900KB/s Uplink. Ouch!
Quad Core processor based server. Limited number of accounts per server.

The RAM difference won't effect me much, or the hard drive space. But the uplink looks pretty weak for the budget 999, The largest files I plan to host are 100-150mb, but with just a few people downloading 900kb/s uplink could really hurt. Also LXadmin unlike cpanel uses next to 0 RAM resources 15mb I think it is compared to CPanels ridiculous amount.

What do you guys think? I'm Leaning Toward the Premium 512.
