last night i did my first installation of joomla and couldn't get an answer about what to put in the host name field during the install, even from godaddy. since i have to create the db first and they have a tool that does that, i logged into the db afterwards and wrote down the ip address that was shown next to the db name. during the joomla install localhost didn't work so i input the ip address of the db and that was the appropriate entry. i hope this helps others doing their first install to fill in that field.
