    PHPBB Club

Posted 16 years 4 months ago
    • Hi

Is there a forum set up for the PHPBB club?

I am thinking of joining, I am already a member of the templates club.

Can anyone tell me if there is any mod in these templates to combat spam registrations? I have a PHPBB3 forum now, and I get a bunch of them every day

    • Retired, but build and run websites for organisations of school leaders and others - e.g. http://www.icponline.org, http://www.aspa.asn.au, http://www.appa.asn.au

    • Yes, there is a forum area for members of the PHPBB template club. You can see it only when you join the club.

As far as I know the RT PHPBB template club has not mods for the PHPBB3 software itself, except for those that are needed by the template itself. Have you looked at the extensions for the PHPBB3 software over at their website? Do you use the CAPTCHA facility built into PHPBB3?

Edit: Their website is currently down because of an attack.

    • Hi John

Thanks for getting back to me.

No! I don't use the Captcha facility, pardon my inexperience, but I don't really know how to set that up. I had been running PHPBB2, and had a mod in there to stop the spam, but once I upgraded, it looks as if it is starting again.

    • Jem's right. I don't allow user registration on my forums - they are registered through Joomla using RokBridge. But my memory tells me that the CAPTCHA facility does not have to be added to the PHPBB3 software, but it might have to be activated. Check in the Admin Control Panel configuration screens.
