Need help! Another day, another puzzle. 8-)

    • I am using XAMPP as a test server on a Windows Vista laptop. I have installed Replicant 2 in my /htdocs folder in a file named /tnamdb. I made a seprate install of Replicator to /htdocs in a file named /alttest.

I can bring up the Replicant 2 site at 127.0.0.1/tnamdb. It displays as it should. When I try to bring up 127.0.0.1/alttest, I get and error that says: " Direct access to this location is not allowed ". I can log into the admin panel and take the site "offline" and then go to 127.0.0.1/alttest and it will display the generic "This site is offline" message with the admin logon box.

How can I get the Replicant site to display when I go to 127.0.0.1/alttest?

    • I just noticed something else as I am trying to discover the problem. If I change to one of the other templates in the alttest install, the site will display when I go to 127.0.0.1/alttest. When I go back to Replicant, I get that above mentioned access message again. I hope this may help to resolve the issue. Oh, I used the RocketLauncher 1.5 install.

    • Try creating a new DB reinstalling the template or try accessing the install at http://localhost/tnamdb

    • I am at work right now. When I get home in an hour, I will download a fresh copy of Replicant RocketLauncher 1.5. I will delete the current DB. Then I will install fresh and see if that resolves the problem.

Thank you for the help yesterday and today JEM. 8-)

    • No worries!!

Just seem like a bit of a glitch setting up the new install on XAMMP.

Don't know if you are a 'newbie' with XAMPP, but most of the moderators have 20, 30, 40, or more installs on our local machines.

So, it's possible, let us know how you make out....

      Cheers!!

      :D

    • I downloaded a fresh copy of Replicant RocketLauncher 1.5. Made a new DB. I installed the package to /alttest. I get the same error message when I try to navigate to 127.0.0.1/alttest.

Just to check, I downloaded Darkmatter RocketLauncher 1.5. I made a new DB, etc. When I navigate to 127.0.0.1/alttest it works perfectly.

I can only guess that something is wrong in the Replicant RocketLauncher 1.5 zip. I don't know if it is a setting or a bad file. As I stated in an earlier post, when I had Replicant installed, I could change themes in the admin panel and I would see the content in FireFox when I went to 127.0.0.1/alttest.

I hope this helps. I would really like to check Replicant out soon!

    • I had the identical situation installing Replicant Rocket Launcher last night (downloaded 2/26/09), except my install was done through CPanel on a webhost. Other Rocket Launcher templates I have installed worked fine.

After reading the following article I activated the Legacy switch and it now works..
