There's a bunch of options that you may find useful here:

However, I'm wondering "Why?". Sure, it's kinda funky to have something moving on your front page - but apart from the 'funkiness' aspect, modules like these really aren't doing anything useful for you.
I'd recommend that you stick with the standard 'Newsflash' module which will choose a random item from the pool you select for it upon each page reload. - Ragdata's Rubber Duck
