Problems with rockettheme templates and hostgator

  • Problems with rockettheme templates and hostgator

    • I've been trying to get a few things done on the site and attempted to get support from HostGator but apparently their only solution to my problems is "make the code work with our server?". I have a reseller account and I'm trying to get this fixed so its not persistant through out all my customers. Is there any one experiencing these problems?

Unable to use mootools properly. All the neat special effects do not work on IE6+ and on firefox only half of it works properly which forced me to use Suckerfish in the menu type on the template configuration.

Other then that PNG files are showing up on IE6 with white backgrounds and not transparent.

    • I recently worked on this template on a HostGator account without any issues.

What version of php are you running?

php5 is recommended for this template.
    • Thanks,

I seriously recommend that you do not host anything other than static HTML sites on shared hosting such as Hostgator. They do not like more "advanced" users that use php and mySQL and therefore their resources.

Aside from that to run Joomla, PHPBB3 and other major applications effectively, without one hand tied behind your back all the time, you need root access to the server period, and that means dedicated or VPS.

Get yourself a VPS. It is like a dedicated server but at hosting prices. You get full WHM and unrestricted root Linux access if you need it.

I could never manage my sites properly without my dedicated servers - even the security.

Costs more per month sure, but worth every cent ten times over if you are serious about your sites, and you are not always grovelling to the shared hosting techs to do something just so your site will actually work.

      Recommendation: http://www.powervps.com

That is not an affiliate link - I just think they are the very best VPS host out there.
