The Joomla Project announces the immediate availability of Joomla 1.5.10 [Wohmamni]. This is a security release and users are strongly encouraged to upgrade immediately.
This release contains 66 bug fixes, one low-level security fix, and one moderate-level security fix. It has been 11 weeks since Joomla 1.5.9 was released on January 10, 2009. The Development Working Group's goal is to continue to provide regular, frequent updates to the Joomla community.
So - being new to this Joomla upgrade thing - can we simply download upgrades from Joomla, or do Rockettheme installations require a 'customised' version of the patch for your specific template?
(I get the impression Rocketheme installs are a little more complex than traditional applied themes...?)

I simply backup my sites, unzip the patch, and overwrite the files via. FTP...never had a problem. You may have to redo any J! core hacks you have, but if not, it really is a painless process.
There is no need to upload all the files for a full install again.
The best thing to do is download the patch directly from Joomla and then FTP over your existing files. It's always best to download directly from the source whenever possible. Only download security patches and upgrades for Joomla from Joomla.org.

Joomla Template Updates
In the case of a template update, you want to make sure you've got any changes logged so you can re-apply them after you un-install the old template and install the new version. This includes any images you may have swapped out like the logo and any file changes to the template.css or index.php or other files.
