This might be a simple question, but a little search didn't provide the answer I was looking for, but I think its probably real simple.
I have one site, but I have three different URL's which bring you do the site. I'd like to create a template specific to each URL.
Now.. in reality, they aren't even different templates.. I use MixxMag and the template will be exactly the same, just a different background image and different .css is needed (to match the colors in the background image)
So my question is.. how can I make it so the website can tell which URL a person has entered the site using, serve that user the corresponding template (or image / css combo).
I'm not 100% sure, but wouldn't you just put another two installations of Joomla on the other two domains, and then modify those as per your requirements? Then create the link to forward them to the main site?
I know that you can have multiple Joomla installations on the one domain.
that seems like the wrong way to go.. you'd end up with 3 databases, 3 sets of users, 3 sets of content.. 3 sets of everything.. when the only thing you want to change is the background image and the .css based on which URL the are on.
correct me if I'm wrong.. but I can call a template using this URL
I set 3 sites up on the one database, however you are right that you would need 3 sets of users and content, but since you only need to change a background image on two of the sites, that wouldn't be a problem would it?
Also, do you require the users logging in from the other two sites or does it just redirect to the main one?
But in my case it works with my requirements so I only mentioned it.
In regards to editing the .htaccess file, I would not have a clue.
My company is MCT.. this winter I purchased MARC Times and the Racing Scene (and their respective domains)
right now, all three domains bring you to the same place.. but I'd like those folks entering via marctimesracingnews.com to see a marctimesracingnews header.. while folks coming in via the michiganracingscene.com to see a michiganracingscene.com header
