Hi, folks. I'm new to the template club and new to building a CMS site. Believe it or not, I had one of the first hundred websites back when it was just black and white text only. Easy but ugly. So here I am, trying to create my first CMS site and I downloaded Fire and switched the html to the theme I wanted. Then I previewed my site and I have a pile of notices and warnings that I don't understand.
I don't expect you guys to answer all of these but I would love to know how to pursue the answers to the problems. Is this something covered in a tutorial or FAQ? Is it something I should post on my webhost forum, Joomla forum, or here? In other words, I'd appreciate a push in the right direction.
Info: I started out by installing SMF and then flashchat and then bridged them. Then I tried another template or three before finding this much better looking template. I very well could have busted something then.

Often it's a good idea to search Google for the errors.
Just search on the line of the error (only using the first part that does not mention anything about your site).
Try searching on these lines:
Notice: Undefined index: lang_character_set in
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
You will get a lot of hits by doing that and I'm sure you can find some solutions to your problems.
Most of the errors are related to the smf forum btw.
