    • Hey All,

I am a complete and total newbie to Joomla, Mambo, phP and any tools and templates associated with them. I have created websites using adobe cs3 in the past and I am familiar with html like a tourist in Spain is to true Spanish.
So when I came across the Mynxx template it was a must have and I thought to myself "it can't be that hard to install this Joomla via fantasico, and then load up this awesome template and input my information into it, thus allowing me to have a website that rocks!", Well guess what I was totally wrong!!
These templates are truely awesome for people who understand how to use the tools and have the skills to work with this web design system. Which clear I now realize I don't. So if I could get one of you master Joomla, Mambo, phP, RokCandy, Rok"Salt",Rok"World", master to educate me from step 1 this would be great.
I would love at some point in time to have my website look and work like the demo of Mynxx, but it aint happening today by my hands for sure.

      So in short HELP!!!!!!!!PLEASE!!!!!!

I am a willing and eager student!

    • Alright, nice work, I am here..

Send me a private message with your details and we can start an offline thing between the two of us.

However, if you know how to set up a Joomla Website (ftp files over, create database and install the package) then we can start in the middle.

      RocketTheme provides things called RocketLaunchers.

Go to the normal Template download and download the Mynxx Rocket Launcher
Unzip the files, FTP them to your host
Create your MySQL database (remember details)
Install it Just Like Joomla and visit your site, and you should now have your Mynxx Demo exactly like the one at demo.rockettheme.com

    • The Main thing here is to, explain what you have, and what you know, any Web addresses would be nice, and then we can know where to start from.

    • Ok, I have never installed Joomla from the ground up. I have always used fantasico to auto install Joomla which in turn auto installs mysql as well so I have never installed either of these items. I think that maybe I should learn to install Joomla and mysql to my local machine and then learn to upload this info to my host server.
So lets start with how to install Joomla and mysql to my local machine and then how to upload that to my website.
I think this would be best dont you.

    • Installing XAMPP

      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=67..._v=viewtopic#p261691

      Some screen shots here:

      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=92...ndows&rb_v=viewtopic

      Rocket Launcher:

      For quick reference:

      NOTE!!!

The Rocket Launcher is for a fresh install ONLY.

It contains a complete version of the latest Joomla release, the template, and all the sample data you see in the demo. Whether or not you decide to install the sample data is up to you. If you want to replicate the demo site, use it, if you want a clean install of Joomla with the template applied, don’t use it.

You can not use the Rocket Launcher in an existing install of Joomla. If you already have an existing install of Joomla, you will need to apply the template file to it.

      Unzip the Rocket Launcher.

FTP the folder and its contents to, depending on your platform, public_html or httdocs

Alternately, you can upload the zipped RL package and extract it on your server through the control panel.

Before you start, you’ll need to create a database on your server.

Once you’ve uploaded the Rocket Launcher and created a database, browse to the folder,

      Ex: www.mysite.com/template_directory_name

You don't have to navigate to the installation folder, if Joomla hasn't been installed yet, it will navigate to the install directory automatically. (How cool is that?!)

Note: It's a really simple point, but don't be confused by the ' www.mysite.com/ ' replace 'mysite.com' with your site's URL, for example, here it would be www.rockettheme.com/template_directory_name

      The installation screen will appear.

      Screen 1:
      Choose language

      Screen 2:
      Pre-installation Check

      Screen 3:
      License

      Screen 4:
You’ll need the following info to make the database connection with Joomla:
      Host Name
Username (for the database you’ve created)
Password (for the database you’ve created)
Database Name (for the database you’ve created)

      Screen 5:
You can skip this and use an FTP client

      Screen6:
Site Name: This will appear in the title bar of your browser.
Your e-mail: the address you want to use to receive mail from the site
Password: this is for the admin login for Joomla, it can be different than the DB password.

      Install Sample Data?
If you want to replicate the site with all the sample content, click on ‘Install Sample Data’.
If you don’t want to install the sample data, click next, a prompt will appear confirming that you want to skip.

      Screen 7:
You’ll be prompted to delete or rename the installation directory.

Before you can view the site or login as administrator, you’ll need to browse to the directory in your FTP client or CP and do so.

In the 'How to get started thread', there's some useful information:

      Organizing Content:

      Setting up Components:
