Hmm...I wonder what themes Andy has up his sleeve for 2007?

    • In following the tradition established by this thread ( www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?t=4417&rb_v=viewtopic )
by Mikey Vee, I would like to start a "I wonder what Andy has been up to" thread for 2007 with a slight rename to clarify its content.
With this in mind, here's wondering what Andy's been up to and what's in store for us in another week. So, we should be expecting
Dave G. to get the "shakes" very soon? ;D

Well, I have already. There's a couple of posts about it over the past day or so. I was just minding my own business and WHAM (not the band, the impact) this wave of the SHAKES came over me. It was like the movie TITANIC when the ship first hit the iceberg. Some felt the ship just shiver a bit. It was like that - like I was Michael Richards as Kramer - without the racial comments, bustin' through Jerry's apartment and my head was bobbing and my hair was waving all over the place!

I know that we have just over a week, but I swear, I have not been able to keep from going to the computer, bringing up this site and wishing for Andy to bless us with an early Christmas release of a cool template. I actually break out into a sweat!

With all the snow that Andy's had, I'm wondering if were going to get a white template - with white text and white graphics - a template that really breaks the mold? I'd have to enable my text to speech just to read it - or borrow Stephen Hawking's machine just to interpret it!

It's getting to where you could nail me to a plank and prop me up and use me like a thermometer. When I start the shakes, you know that Andy's just around the corner with a template. It's like I'm an alarm clock or something. Put a mallet in my hand and hoist me up to the Notre Dame bell tower and then let me start shaking. People from all around will hear the sound and know that Andy is just about to give birth to a brand new baby template - only you don't have to wipe it's butt.

I was thinking about putting together some Flash app with my image with some kind of electrode attached to my brain and when I started to shake, my image would figet and bob up and down. It would get faster as Andy worked on the up coming template and then at Andy's release, you'd hear a giant flushing sound as relief came my way. It could happen!

I better get some sleep before I work myself up into a lather - or maybe it's just the eggnog.

Shake - I mean, talk soon!

    • I believe that Andy is going to out do himself! I don't know if you've read the book THE PETER PRINCIPLE, but the central phrase of that book is that 'we rise to the level of our incompetence'. That means that each of us will rise to the level where we just can't handle anything else. We become incompetent at a certain point. But there are 3 ways to rise higher - or out do yourself in making templates for the next year...

      1. We learn more skills. We can rise above our limitations by enhancing our personal or professional skill set. Notice that the RT templates have gotten better and better. Andy must be pumpin' up that skill set.

      2. We delegate to capable people around us - we surround ourselves with others that see our vision and can lift us beyond our limitations. Andy does this by setting the ground rules for RT members to modify the RT templates that he builds. You, the members, surround him and bring more value to the contents of the site and to yourselves as you gain more templates!

      3. (and this one is a negative) The next way we can rise above the level of our incompetence is to cheat, cut corners and lie. We may rise beyond that level of our limitations, but eventually all will come crashing down around us - destroying others, possibly. Andy steers clear of this method. He shoots straight, tells us the hard truth and is not afraid to face reality - notice the recent closing of the SMF Template Club. It took guts to admit that it just wasn't working - and the result that we all have grown in our respect for Andy.

But, since he has been doing the first two and has steered away from the third, how will Andy top the great work for the next year of 2007?

I think I know how! It's the addition of my 4th rule of the Peter Principle:

      He clones himself! That's it!

      1. He, along with all those clones of himself, will enhance their skillset - they will all have the same brain and their intelectual capacity will be boosted and we will see such great things as the first 3D template! No, it's not a template for 3D modelers and animators, but an actual 3D template - one with and X and a Y and a Z set of dimensions! Like you can have module positions on all six sides of the site and whichever way you turn it, you get something new - six new sites with just one domain. Imagine the bucks you'd save on hosting! With Andy's new brain power, he will WOW us with incredible designs!

      2. He's even got the second point covered (see above) because he'd have all those clones running around working away and with their collective brain power, Andy could add AI (Artificial Intelligence) to the 3D template. Imagine Joomla 2.0 might have it's own speech engine and voice recognition software so you'll never have to push a mouse around or mess with a keyboard. You just talk to it like on Star Trek or 2001 - except it won't try to kill you.

      3. And here's the great benifit! Since all the clones are exact copies of Andy, imagine the ethics that are involved! Not only will they tell you the truth, never lie or cheat or feel the need to steal anyones else's template, but with the combined moral integrity of all those clones, they will not only tell you the unvarnished truth, they will tell you everything that you'll every want to know! Honest!

I've rambled on too long. I just thought you might want to know what's in store for RT in 2007. It's going to be great!

    • Sorry, that must have been the eggnog here too. I was at a Christmas party before this. Gee I didn't know that I could be this funny - or obnoxious! I can delete it if you want - but it is funny. Sorry! Man, I hope I don't have to go around the RT forums and apologize. According to the log I must have been on far longer than I thought!

      Anyway, Merry Chritsmas!

    • laugh.. i wish i could clone myself! would solve some serious time management issues :) Anyway, i am going back to basics a bit this month, nothing crazy, a nice generic design in a similar style to internet gazette and versatility2 (as those are the two most popular templates). The big news this month and probably for the next few months is i'm going to focus on providing some little modules to add some zip to the designs. I'll probably release these gpl also, but club members will get them first, and the templates I release will have css specifically for them.
