    phpbb3 pre-sale question

      I am about to also purchase a phpbb3 membership and would like to know if the templates can still be modded for example to include tha 'advertising management' mod or other adsense mods, point systems etc?

    • Joomla Modules will not work with phpBB3 as they are for Joomla. However, that said, phpBB3 does have a series of MODs and my understanding is that there is an Ads module. Although, you need to go to www.phpbb.com to see if there is one available.

    • Most modules will also work with rokbridge, the only problem may be with the more advanced modules. A good start would be just getting used to phpbb3 its mod system, automod is great for that, first mod prosilver, then test if the mods work with that. Then combine the style with prosilver (the styles inherit from prosilver, so edits to prosilver will be inherited by the phpbb3 RT style). I have come across beta mods that don't work with prosilver either, so it is good to take prosilver as a point of reference. If it works there, huge changes 95% that it will work flawelesly. The other 5% will give you some problems because of js code, and then it is just the trick of oredering js code, or making sure a mod does not use jQuery libraries without compatibility mode.

    • I was successful in using Tachyon template with phpBB3 version 3.0.9 using RokBridge (using Bridge mode) and the phpBB3 Advertisement Management mod. I had to put some of the edits in the tachyon files instead of the prosilver files i.e. styles/tachyon/template/overall_header.html file & styles/tachyon/template/overall_footer.html & styles/tachyon/template/viewtopic_body.html

      I got some mysql errors accessing the database. The direct link to the forums through the phpbb/ directory worked but I got errors in the link to the forum bridge through the forum/ directory.
