Front Page Blank

    • I've lost the front page (and all the others) of my site. I'm afraid I've made a newbie error (or perhaps more than one). After making some updates to the site I changed the "SEO friendly" button in the global control panel to "yes" This led to problems accesses pages and menus - oops - so I changed it back. When I previewed I got a blank page. I disabled all of the components - still blank page. I enabled the components that came with the Versatility 4 template (which I've been using for sometime with no problems) - still blank page. I've read through several posts about rebuilding the database with phpAdmin, but I don't know much about this and am hesitant to pursue this option unless it's the only way. I've also read suggestions to do a fresh install - but wasn't sure how this would effect the content and customization done on the site. I fear that I've fallen into a trap (you all make it so easy and I love the template and forums). But I think I learned just enough to get me into trouble.

the URL for the site is chasecountychamber.org

      Please advise.

      Thanks

    • Hello Arifin,

Thanks for the quick reply. I changed the htaccess file from "htaccess.txt" to "htaccess" and made suggested change. Below is the file

      #####################################################
      # READ THIS COMPLETELY IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THIS FILE
      #
      # The line just below this section: 'Options +FollowSymLinks' may cause problems
      # with some server configurations. It is required for use of mod_rewrite, but may already
      # be set by your server administrator in a way that dissallows changing it in
      # your .htaccess file. If using it causes your server to error out, comment it out (add # to
      # beginning of line), reload your site in your browser and test your sef url's. If they work,
      # it has been set by your server administrator and you do not need it set here.
      #
      #####################################################

      ## Can be commented out if causes errors, see notes above.
      #Options +FollowSymLinks

      #
      # mod_rewrite in use

      RewriteEngine On

      ## If you experience problems on your site block out the operations listed below
      ## This attempts to block the most common type of exploit `attempts` to Joomla!

      RewriteRule (.*) index.php
      RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization},L]
      #
########## End - Joomla! core SEF Section

I've also set "Use Apache mod_rewrite" to Yes

I checked with my host (globat) and am told that by default the mod_rewrite is enabled in their server

      Now what?

    • Hello,

Could you please send me a PM with your Joomla SuperAdmin details so I can look closer to your problem?

    • Hello,

I checked your site. I also tried to to turn the SEF off, but your site is still blank.
So I think it's not the problem.
Could you please try to disable the 3rd party extension one by one there until you find the problem?
Also any reason why you use Legacy 1.0 ?

    • Thanks Arifin,

I can see the frontpage now. I confess I was not following the directions correctly  I had disabled the extensions, but did not uninstall. Thanks so much for your help.

My only problem now is that as the page is loading I get an alert saying "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" When I click "ok" the page loads. This seems to occur on each page.
