Getting mod_mainmenu to look like the splitmenu in Versatility II

Hi!
Please have a look at the attached picture. I want all new menus I make in Joomla (using the mod_mainmenu) to look like the left one. Right now it looks like the right one.
I have not decided if I want a pointer AND dotted lines (like left one/splitmenu) or just dotted lines so I would be very thankful for explanations how to do both.
Would be really nice to achieve this! Thanks!

- Think I found it. Changed to "flat list" in the module settings for each menu and then changed settings for a.mainlevel in the template_css.css
